We love parties!  We love them because everyone is excited, having fun and really just enjoying the atmosphere.  We have found that our photobooth has really helped party goers get something special out of a great party.

When all the food is eaten and the balloons are shrunk, they will always have the memory of themselves having a riot in the photobooth!  What an amazing keepsake.  So if you have a party and want a little something for your guests to take home with them, consider renting a photobooth from us!

Jennifer + Stuart | Vancouver Wedding Photos

Posted August 25th, 2010 by admin with No Comments

Every couple is different. Their wedding photography should reflect that. Throughout your wedding day we as photographers make choices on how to present our brides and grooms. Some take the low road and force feed you into a canned wedding where each wedding looks relatively the same.

We take wedding photography very seriously. We work hard to make unique images using lighting, lenses, different camera settings to achieve something special.

Jennifer and Stuart is an interesting example of this. Jennifer loves the fun and glamour of photography. She likes things to be airy and interesting. Stuart on the otherhand really isn’t into having photos taken of him, but understands the need for it. Rather than making Stuart pose and making him feel out of his element, we decided to keep the images natural and less “look into the camera” look. For Jennifer, we did some more fun and avante-guard posing and lighting. Carefully balancing the two sides is not particularly easy, but we managed. At the end of the night, both were very grateful for our flexibility and commitment on delivering a product that matched their needs.

Vancouver Wedding Photography: Komal & Ash Teaser

Posted August 24th, 2010 by admin with No Comments

It’s been a super busy August and I apologize for not keeping up to date on the blog.  However, there will be LOTS of stuff coming in the next few weeks so you can see what we’ve been up to over the last month.

For this post, meet Komal and Ash.  This amazing couple was such a joy to photograph.  They wanted something a little non conventional in their approach to the wedding day.  Ash is a producer and very much entrenched into the music culture.  We wanted to ensure that we provided something a little more daring with lighting all while delicately balancing the art of keeping the family happy.  We carefully worked the lighting even in pitch dark… and I mean pitch dark…

As we tell all our clients, we are more than able to shoot any time and anywhere and this would be a good example of that.  Stay tuned for some of the candid and other great photos from this wedding!

*EDIT* Here is the next day edit. We showed this at the reception the following night, but because we had a little more time, our NDE is a little more flashy than our SDE!

The aftermath of Wedding Photography

Posted August 10th, 2010 by admin with No Comments

You hire a professional wedding photographer for your wedding day because you want memories that will last you a lifetime.  Not only do you want an accurate depiction of what happened on the wedding day, but you want to ensure that the photos you receive will help you relive those special moments.  Photos should have an intimacy and personality that is a reflection of who you are.

The company that you hire to be your photographer for the day should be someone you can connect with.  They should have consistent work, and be able to produce a very solid wedding photography album for you.  It is also important that the photographer understands what style of wedding photography you like.

There are 2 components to great wedding photography.  The photography itself AND the post processing.  Each photographer will have their own strengths and weaknesses, and it is important that you identify them before you hire them.  Merely asking if they can emulate another photographer’s work is dangerous and can come back and haunt you later.  There are lots of things that play a role in the style of photography a company has.  Their equipment, the artistic eye and their ability to communicate can affect how and what a photographer captures.

A great photograph in our opinion should start right in camera.  Sure, once we finish post processing an image the photo should be even more appealing, but the underlying image should be strong.  As a photographer, we are put in charge of being creative, and presenting your wedding day in a beautiful way.  To do this, not only does the photography have to be strong, but also the presentation.

It really comes down to choices in photography.  If you put hundreds of photographers in the same scenario to take a photo, you will literally come up with hundreds of different ways to present the same subject.  You want your photographer to have the ability to present a variety of different styles throughout your day.

Editing or post processing is the part of the wedding that you don’t see in the forefront, but is a big part of your wedding photos.  We work to find ways to present your wedding in a style that appeals to you and helps enhance the photos that we take.  Many things can go into the post processing aspect of wedding photography.  At Three Sixty Photography, we put the emphasis on wedding photography as being unique and personalized.  When we sit down with you to do our consult, we take the time to understand the type of photography and the style of editing you like.  We can accommodate many styles of editing.  Whether you like black and whites, vintage tones or sepia images – we can cater our editing process to your liking.

As for the photography, we produce a portfolio that is really a mixed bag.  We take some of the traditional photos, mix them with avante-garde images, take editorial and fashion photographs and play with some of the quirky and fun photos.  We work to ensure that we bring out your personalities, and produce unique and personalized images for you.  The Vancouver Wedding Photography market is large, there are tons of photographers out there.  Three Sixty Photography is dedicated in producing a wedding portfolio that is as unique and as you are.  Book an appointment to come view our studio where we can show you a large variety of images.  We hope to see you soon!

Vancouver Wedding Photography in Kitsilano

Posted August 10th, 2010 by admin with No Comments

Vancouver is home to some of the largest and elaborate weddings around.  We photograph lots of different weddings and sometimes it’s really neat to photograph a quiet and intimate wedding.  Dawn and Brian had an intimate wedding in the back yard of a quite Kitsilano home surrounded by family and close friends, they exchanged vows with one another.

A funny turn of events happened when they realized the marriage license had been misplaced.  We made a stop at London Drugs to pick up a new one after the ceremony and soon it was official!

The day was bright and the sun was intense.  We made our way down to the Olympic village to take some photos before we headed back to the home for a warm reception.  It was a great day and we wish Brian and Dawn a wonderful marriage filled with happiness and love!

How to choose your Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Posted July 22nd, 2010 by admin with 1 Comment

Finding a wedding photographer in Vancouver is difficult.  There are so many different photographers available so how do you know where to start?

The obvious place to start is to type the words “vancouver wedding photographer” into a local search engine.  But once you do that be prepared for a multitude of hits.  Now you start searching through websites starting on page 1.  This will take you through the good, the bad and the ugly and unless you have great patience you won’t get past page 2 of the multitude of photographers in Vancouver.

But what could you be missing?  There are tons of great photographers lower down on the list, don’t they deserve a chance to show you their portfolio?  So how else are you going to find them?  Ask some of your friends on who they used.  Sometimes, you’ll be surprised to find some great wedding photographers that won’t necessarily be at the top of google.

Three Sixty Photography, a local vancouver wedding photographer is one of them.  We try our best to get as high as we can on the search engine because we know as a bride, you are more than likely to stop after the first few pages.

We believe in a value driven approach to your wedding.  We strive to capture the fine details

We entrench ourselves in the moment to capture tender moments artfully

a great vancouver wedding photographer should be able to capture you naturally,

But they should also be able to add a bit of glamour into your photos

They should be able to handle groups in a creative fashion instead of the boring “line up”

All of this is important when considering your wedding photographer.  So perhaps give the company that’s NOT on the top of the search engine a looksy…  How you’ll find us… I’m not sure yet… but we’re working on it!!!

Vancouver Wedding Photography – Pushing the Boundaries

Posted July 9th, 2010 by admin with 1 Comment

The wedding photography market in Vancouver is getting fierce.  With a plethora of photographers entering the market how do you separate yourself?  As you may already know, Three Sixty Photography starts this wedding photography separation with a very strong understanding of light manipulation.  We can use just sunlight, artificial lighting or mixed lighting to create photographs that really pop.

What you typically see on our site is very close to what comes out of our cameras.  Many of our photographs displayed in our studio or online have been very minimally post processed.  In fact, other than some basic edits or toning to focus the image a bit, we really rely on getting great photographs in camera.

To see what heavy post processing is in our books please see our photographs in this entry.  Although we started off with a strong photograph and great lighting, we pushed the images further than we normally do for this set.  Why?  We wanted a more magazine feeling to these photographs.  We also wanted to show that we have the capability to push the envelope with our images.

You may then ask why would a wedding photographer not produce all images to look like these?  The answer is simple.  Our philosophy is to have VALUE DRIVEN PHOTOGRAPHY.  We want you to have a great experience, wonderful photos that won’t break the bank.  However, for the more discerning bride we can clearly push the boundaries of the image for you.   If you would like to know more about getting photos that could be right out of a magazine, talk to us!  We will be more than happy to accommodate your needs.

So if you are a bride that wants a more couture look to your wedding photos, please feel free to ask.  If you are a bride that wants great photographs right out of the gates, then we’re the company for you!

Advanced Photography Workshop – Lighting 101

Posted July 7th, 2010 by admin with 2 Comments

Each year, Three Sixty Photography puts on a series of workshops to help amateur and professional photographers improve their skills.  Sometimes we host our Super Intro to dSLR, sometimes it’s on posing, this time…  Lighting.

Lighting separates our photographs from our competitors.  That is not to say that we artificially light every photo, however, we understand the options that are available to us to help us better present our subjects.  Why is this important?  In today’s day and age, everyone with a digital camera is calling themselves a photographer.  Photoshop seems to be everyone’s greatest equalizer.  We want to dispel this myth.  Learning to light properly, take photographs well and seeing great lighting opportunities will give a better platform to do any digital manipulations.  Three Sixty Photography believes in getting it right in camera.  All the funky effects and touch ups can be done after to ENHANCE the photos but the photo should be good to begin with.

So if you want to learn how to “see light” and want to get the most out of your current equipment, this is a great way for you to get hands on and ask questions.  Space is limited so register early!

Early bird registration ends July 20th and you get 10% off!

Surprise Surprise!!! Vancouver Photobooth Rental!

Posted July 2nd, 2010 by admin with 1 Comment

We do crazy things for our loved ones. Last Saturday we had a last minute booking for our photobooth at the River Rock Casino. It was for a surprise birthday party. Kathy who was turning 50 was in for a shocking surprise when her daughters put together an AMAZING party complete with DJ, gorgeous table settings and of course… our PHOTOBOOTH!

We worked the floor with our costumes to help warm the crowd up and in just a short while we had them FLOWING in and out of the booth! Young and old, all you were able to hear was laughter and giggles. We think it was a raging success and hope that when you plan your next birthday party, think of adding a photobooth to help put some life into the party!
